Expectations and Grading

CLASS EXPECTATIONS (required for optimal language acquisition)

1.  PAY ATTENTION
     Listen and read to understand
    Sit up straight and make eye contact with the person speaking
    Signal when I'm going too fast or being unclear
    Follow along with the reading
    Nothing on your desk or in your hands

2. 
PARTICIPATE
     Come to class on time and stay in class.
     Be on task.
     Answer all questions, or signal that I'm being unclear.
     Contribute to stories and discussions, avoiding English.
     Volunteer.
     Ask pertinent questions.
     Review regularly by checking the website.
     When absent-check the website and promptly make up everything you missed.

3.  BE POLITE
     There is always only one conversation taking place, involving the whole class-no private conversations, no English.
     Listen to and look at the person speaking.
     Use good manners to show respect to people and property.
     Be silent and listen during announcements.
     Help each other out.

4.  SPEAK ONLY SPANISH (unless translating)
     Communicate only in Spanish during class time, even with classmates.

ABSENCES

You are required to make up the work you missed due to an absence for any reason.  It is your responsibility to find out what assignments and material you missed.  Check PowerSchool for any work that may be due when you return to class.  (Double-click on an assignment in Powerschool for any further instructions.)  Check with your classmates and check my website for material you missed.
