Record demand for CTE programs means admission will be determined by lottery
Pittsfield, MA — Taconic High School has received more than 300 applications for its Career Vocational Technical Education (CTE) programs for the Class of 2030 — but only 250 seats are available. Because applications exceed capacity, the school will hold an enrollment lottery to fairly determine which students are admitted.
The lottery will be conducted through Go2CTE, the district's online admissions platform, using a random, number-based selection process. Under state regulations and district policy, Pittsfield and Richmond residents will receive priority over non-resident applicants. Non-Residents will be placed on a waitlist in the order of application and be offered a spot only after the Pittsfield resident waitlist has been exhausted.
The lottery takes place on Monday, March 23, 2026. Results will be available after 6:00 PM via the Go2CTE Dashboard and will be emailed directly to applicants. Results will also be posted on the Taconic High School website by March 24, 2026.
Students offered a seat must complete Enrollment Verification by March 27, 2026, through the Go2CTE platform. This confirms their intent to enroll and secures their spot. Seats will be forfeited if verification is not completed by the deadline of March 27, 2026.
Students not offered a seat after the lottery will be placed on a waitlist in the order they were selected.
Families are encouraged to attend a Zoom information session on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 6:00 PM. The link will be sent to all applicants through the Go2CTE portal. You can also visit www.pittsfield.net or call the Taconic High School Counseling Department at (413) 448-9600.
Taconic's CTE programs are state-designated and open to students in grades 9–12. They are designed to build real-world skills, meet professional standards, and prepare students for both college and careers. All programs offer industry-recognized credentials as well as college opportunities.
Current programs include: Environmental Science • Early Education & Care • Cosmetology • Horticulture • IT & Cybersecurity • Business Technology • Culinary • Health Technology • Carpentry • Auto Collision & Repair • Auto Technology • Advanced Manufacturing • Electrical • Metal Fabrication • Multimedia & Broadcasting
